Burnout can hide behind productivity.

Burnout does not always look like missing work, abandoning responsibilities, or visibly falling apart. It can look like continuing to perform while feeling increasingly disconnected, resentful, anxious, or depleted.

When the nervous system has had little opportunity to recover from ongoing demands, simply pushing harder—or waiting for a less stressful week—may not create lasting relief.

Common signs of chronic stress

  • Feeling tired even after resting
  • Irritability or a shorter fuse
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Operating on autopilot
  • Trouble setting limits or stepping away from responsibilities
  • Feeling emotionally numb, detached, or unlike yourself
  • Using constant activity to avoid slowing down

How therapy can help

Therapy provides space to understand what is keeping the stress cycle going and build realistic ways to respond differently. Depending on your needs, treatment may focus on emotional regulation, boundaries, perfectionism, anxiety, relationship patterns, recovery habits, and reconnecting with the parts of life that have started to feel distant.

Practical, individualized support

PBC clinicians use evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT-informed skills, mindfulness, acceptance-based strategies, attachment-focused work, and trauma-informed therapy. Treatment is tailored to the individual rather than built around a one-size-fits-all burnout checklist.

Care that fits real life

Appointments may be available in person at our Orland Park office or through secure telehealth for clients located in Illinois. Daytime, evening, and limited weekend availability depends on clinician schedules.

Insurance and payment

PBC is an insurance-based group practice and also offers self-pay services. Participating plans may include BCBS, Aetna, Aetna Better Health of Illinois, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, CountyCare, Meridian, Curative, and select employer or HMO plans.

Coverage, participation, authorization requirements, and benefits vary. PBC will review plan participation and benefits before confirming services whenever possible; verification is not a guarantee of payment.
